Repson Timber is primarily a standing timber purchase company based in Devon with associated timber management services. Co-owned by Callum Anderson and Steve Hooper, Repson Timber provides local forest, estate, and land owners with a full and direct timber purchase service across the south and southwest of England.
Formed by Callum and Steve in 2017, Repson Timber exists to provide one, complete service to customers. By cutting out third-party buyers and middlemen, Repson Timber purchases standing timber at more competitive prices and delivers any associated forestry services all under the same banner.
By combining the timber purchase with any clear-felling and timber harvesting services, Repson Timber ensures direct contact – and a simplified process – for every landowner. With full supervision and management, landowners receive a service that delivers quality over quantity every time.
Most importantly, Repson ensures timber is supplied to local sawmills rather than being transported nationwide like our competitors. Together with our quality workmanship and ethical forestry practices, it makes Repson Timber more environmentally-friendly with more sustainable working methods over the long-term.
With a family background in forestry clearance and tree felling, Callum has been in the trade since a young age. After gaining his basic tree felling qualification, he trained as a tree surgeon for a stint with a local contracting firm.
After deciding that working at height wasn’t for him, Callum went self-employed as a chainsaw operator. Working for several different timber harvesting contractors across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset, he progressed to forwarder driver and then timber harvester driver, before eventually running a full production site.
After operating his own timber harvesting business for several years, and regularly working alongside and contracting with Steve, Callum joined forces with Steve to establish Repson Timber.
Starting his career in forestry at the age of 16, Steve began as a saw man and winch operator before progressing onto timber harvesters/forwarders and excavators. A period of self-employment followed, working for forestry contractors as a forwarder and timber harvester driver.
As well as working across the south of England, Steve also spent a period of time in France operating machinery and managing timber harvesting sites. After owning and operating his own timber harvesting business, regularly working alongside and contracting with Callum with his fleet of forestry machines and crew of full-time staff, Steve joined Callum in forming Repson Timber.
